2019 - 2020
Having spent years doing life drawings and taking photos I decided to experiment combining them and what you see here is the result so far. The life drawings are self-explanatory however the photo's are micro areas of interesting colours and textures found on my ramblings through country and town. Please click on the image to see full piece.

Curled up on grafitti
Here is a female model infront of drapery sitting curled up with her arm behind her back for half an hour! She is overlaid
on some grafitti found on the old railway line metal bridge over Ballingdon, Sudbury with the metal coming through the paint.

Seated on grafitti
A seated model beside a window arms behind her back is overlaid on some graffiti from the metal bridge in Ballingdon Sudbury, the area of the photograph is probably only a square inch

Arm above head on boat hull
Here is a female model with her arm up drawn on a book page. I have removed the lettering outside her body and overlaid her on a delightful blue and brown pattern found on a boat hull in the boatyard at Felixstowe harbour

Back on boat hull repair
This is the back of a female figure placed very carefully on a book page, she has a bowl beside her and is overlaid with a photo of a sanded boat hull found in Felixstowe harbour.

Leaning on row boat bottom
A male figure leaning to one side on his elbow overlaid by a tiny area of the bottom of a rowing boat discovered amounst many on Mersea beach.

Leg out on row boat bottom
Here the model is laying on the edge of a pedestal one leg outstretched, the other tucked under her. This picture lent itself to be overlaid with the small hole and textural paint on a rowing boat upturned on Mersea beach

curled up leg bent on boat hull
A female model flowing into the drapes around her and drawn on a music score has been overlaid on some peely paint found on the bottom of a sailing boat at Southwold harbour. Some of the music has been erased to show the textures.

Reclining twist on peely paint
Arms above head and twisted this model lay here for an hour quite peacefully. She has been overlaid with peely paint and ridges of fibreglass strands found on the bottom of a rowing boat - Mersea Beach

Reclining with bowl on boat for sale sign
reclining with a bowl was a lovely composition that I felt fitted rather well overlaid with the rusted corner of this sign, selling a boat at Southwold harbour. The numbers on here were the contact phone number.

Arms infront on row boat patch
A graceful pose drawn on book paper with the title 'Without Trace' - She is overlaid with the mid raised area of an upturned rowing boat on Mersea Beach, the light catching the fibreglass.

Leaning forward on for sale sign
Leaning forward and resting on her arms I found this pose very pleasing - she is overlaid with the corner of a sign selling a boat at Southwold Harbour where I was taking a sunny afternoon stroll

Arm on shoulder on bike rack sign
A quick pose drawn on book paper of an elegant and tall model overlaid by a small part of a retro sign on the end of a bicycle rack in Nowton Park near Bury St Edmunds

Arms up on pig pen
A quick pose of a woman holding her arms resting on her head, this has been overlaid onto a small part of dripping paint on a pig pen near Elmset, Hadleigh where I had some time whilst exhibiting in the barn there.

Twisted lean with fabric on sudbury grafitti
A young model propped up around lots of fabric drawn on music paper - she has benn overlaid with a small area of rusted grafitti on the old railway line at ballingdon in Sudbury. I thought this was a lovely pose.

Arms up on Cornish serpentine
A quick drawing of a model with her arms above her head carefully placed overlaid with a photo of Cornish serpentine and sand in Kynance Cove where my sister and I had a lovely day photographing and drawing

Crouching on Maggie May boat
This drawing is on music paper. It's a lovely pose. I have overlaid her with a close up of some rust and paint found on my favourite boat in North Norfolk - Maggie May. She's stranded out on the Marshes near the muddy walk at Stiffkey slowly falling apart.

Arm above head on Sea wall
This is a drawing of a female model with her arm up drawn on book paper overlaid with some interesting pebbles set in concrete found on the sea wall in Felixstowe This was my second experimental piece and although I feel the later ones work I am rather fond of the subtlety of this.

Arms up on rust
This was my first experimental image with a drawing of a male figure on book paper holding his arms up. Here I have overlaid him on a close up image of rust taken at Southwold. This first piece was very subtle but I am fond of it.

Big foot on Row boat bottom
This is a zoom life drawing done during lockdown. the model was in the corner of a small room with the camera on the floor making for rather interesting pose.
I placed her on this colourful background of the bottom of a rowing boat on Mersea Island as I liked the bright colour with the big accentuated foot.

with grapes on grafitti
the model was a very elegant Indian lady working online during lockdown. She had a bowl of grapes with her and i felt the soft colours of the graffiti worked well with the softness of the pose.

Floor seated on Gypsy caravan
seated in the corner of her room on zoom this lovely tall model was all legs. I wanted to jazz up the picture a bit and put her on a colouful photo of a Gypsy caravan I had the pleasure of photographing before it got stripped of all it's paint and done up.

leaning sit on boat bottom
Sitting comfortably on her sofa this model looked really relaxed during her zoom session for life drawing so i felt the cool blues and browns spotted on a boat hull in Felixstowe Ferry worked well with this pose.

shadow with No cycling sign
Here is a male model using zoom life drawing to have fun. He created dramatic lighting to challenge us with strong shadows. i felt the strong reds of a photo of a part of a 'no cycling sign' worked well with these strengths.

leg up on bull rush
This was a long pose on a zoom lockdown session that I thoroughly enjoyed. Here I played around with an nature photo of a close up of an exploding Bull rush.
